I thought a lot about how to inroduce this city, but I guess the following three spanish verbs perfectly describe what Barcelona is all about for me:
Disfrutar: to enjoy. This is a city with a warm heart. I am not speaking (only) about fiesta, it is more about the feeling of smiling all day long, because of the people, because of the amazing architecture, because of the sun and the sea.
Andar: to walk. Walking walking walking until my feet are exhausted and enjoying having stepped onto kilometers of history. Urban environments where humans still feel like the city is “theirs” and not like they are a “thing” to be moved around are to be preseved.
Gustar: to savor. Spanish cuisine is a blast for your palate and a boost for your happiness. It is no surprise that in spanish “me gusta”- “I like it” literally would mean “it tastes good to me”. The idea that pleasure is related to the belly fascinates me. Butterflies in the stomach would confirm that even love pass by there. (read what to eat in Barcelona)
